Tropical Fish Collaboration with Robyn: Dory Eyes!

I've been so bad with the blog lately! Sorry! My makeup for photographic work and college seems to have sucked the creative bug out of me. But I'm back with a tropical fish collaboration with Robyn of Stay Beautiful, which has been in the pipelines a long long time!

We decided to do Nemo and Dory, aka the clownfish and regal blue tang. I did an interpretation of a blue tang on my eyes:



                                 
                            

For the blue, I used Illamasqua powder eyeshadow in Dance. The yellow is Sugarpill Buttercupcake. To blend out the blue, I used Fyrinnae Winter Again.

This is a pretty basic interpretation to be honest, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of blogging still. If you have any ideas of what sort of looks you'd like to see from me, let me know!

Eyeshadow on the Lips?!

Hi everyone. Just a quick post because I'm not putting enough content on here lately. I have been playing with makeup a lot though, so I thought I'd show you one of my experiments. Hope you enjoy.

A lot of people think you can only use a product for a specific use, or just stick to what the name suggests you should do with something. It's often fun to play around though, using lip products on the eyes or cheeks, and eye colours elsewhere on the face. One of the easiest ways to experiment is to mix a loose pigment or eyeshadow with a clear lipgloss (or Vaseline) to create your own custom lipstick. For these I used Fyrinnae eye shadows mixed with just a clear gloss. All you need to do is check on the label or company website to see if your product is safe to use in the area. Here are the looks I created:

 Arcane Magic: Faerie Glamour. This one says it's not safe for lips, but I took it off straight after :p Just don't try this at home haha!

 Arcane Magic: Velvet Vampire. Looks patchy in the photos, but in real life it looked great. I actually love this on the lips and would definitely wear it out.

Biker Chic. This was hard to get on neatly, as are all really dark or pigmented lipglosses. It also came out a lot blacker than I expected, and the turquoise sparkles don't show up much.

Playing around with make-up is a lot of fun, trial and error is required but just go for it! It's only make-up remember, it washes off :) Hope you liked this post!

MeMeMe Shimmer Stacks: Review and Swatches

Hi everyone. I've got a review for you today, of the MeMeMe Shimmer Stack. I have the Gold and Bronze shades, which I bought a while back through a Groupon deal.

These are packaged and presented really similarly to the ever popular Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks. I haven't tried those however, so while I can't compare the two products I will try to give you a good idea of the MeMeMe ones.

Geek Chic Cosmetics: All the Rage and The Pointy End - Swatches & Review

Hi guys! I finally have a little bit of time on my hands to do some proper blog posts! Today I've got some swatches of eyeshadows from Geek Chic Cosmetics. I've never tried anything from them before, and I've been pleasantly surprised!

I ordered samples of All the Rage (from the 10 Man Raid collection) and The Pointy End (from the Win or Die collection). I had to try a Game of Thrones shadow! Here they are:

Shiro Cosmetics Kawaiishadow Collection

Just a quick review and swatches of something I received recently today. A while ago I made my first order from Shiro Cosmetics, and part of that included the Kawaiishadow set of eyeshadows.

The shadows come as a collection of all five pastel shades of eyeshadows, wrapped beautifully, with a couple of Japanese sweets thrown in. You can see on the website how they are presented.They would definitely make a great present to someone, and you can tell a lot of thought and love went into the wrapping and design of the items.

The jars all have stickers on top with kawaii little faces on, which coordinate with the colour of the shadow inside. One thing I would say about the packaging is that because the stickers are paper rather than shiny plastic-y labels, they might get stained with products, or if you get them wet the ink may run.

Onto the swatches

They were swatched dry over Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Sorry about the goosebumps, I had to go into my cold bathroom to photograph!

The shadows themselves are nicely pigmented, especially for paler shades, which I often find to be more sheer. The pink one (Kawaii) doesn't look as good as the others, but I think that's just because it's quite close to my skin colour. The shimmer in them isn't too much, but makes sure they are easy to apply and blendable.

I think they would work really well as inner corner colours as part of a bright eyeshadow look and I can't wait to use them over Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk!

I think the main issue people might have with these is that you have to buy the full set off full-sized eyeshadows. The current price on the website is $28 for 5 2 gram jars of shadow, which is really good, but could put people off if they only want one, or just want to try them out. But overall I think this is a lovely product which is really well thought-out and professional.
