Eyeshadow on the Lips?!

Hi everyone. Just a quick post because I'm not putting enough content on here lately. I have been playing with makeup a lot though, so I thought I'd show you one of my experiments. Hope you enjoy.

A lot of people think you can only use a product for a specific use, or just stick to what the name suggests you should do with something. It's often fun to play around though, using lip products on the eyes or cheeks, and eye colours elsewhere on the face. One of the easiest ways to experiment is to mix a loose pigment or eyeshadow with a clear lipgloss (or Vaseline) to create your own custom lipstick. For these I used Fyrinnae eye shadows mixed with just a clear gloss. All you need to do is check on the label or company website to see if your product is safe to use in the area. Here are the looks I created:

 Arcane Magic: Faerie Glamour. This one says it's not safe for lips, but I took it off straight after :p Just don't try this at home haha!

 Arcane Magic: Velvet Vampire. Looks patchy in the photos, but in real life it looked great. I actually love this on the lips and would definitely wear it out.

Biker Chic. This was hard to get on neatly, as are all really dark or pigmented lipglosses. It also came out a lot blacker than I expected, and the turquoise sparkles don't show up much.

Playing around with make-up is a lot of fun, trial and error is required but just go for it! It's only make-up remember, it washes off :) Hope you liked this post!

Review: Look Beauty Double Hit Lip

LOOK Magazine recently came out with a makeup line, which is available in Superdrug. I found these in the White Rose Centre branch, but have not seen them in any other shops so far. 

Here I have two of the shades, Red Alert (shade 4), and Berry Blast (shade 1).

This product caught my eye as it looked like something I haven't seen before. They are called the Double Hit Lip, which is a lipstick, with an identical coloured gloss at the other end of the tube. On the outside of the packaging it says:

All the trends covered - matte, glossy or everything at once!

I thought that sounded really interesting, but unfortunately, the lipstick's finish is not a true matte.

The lipsticks on their own. There is a bit of a sheen to them, and they have quite a balmy texture. Red Alert is on the left, Berry Blast on the right. To me Red Alert is not a red at all, but a bright, orangey coral. They are pretty well pigmented.

So, my opinions. To be honest, I really don't like these. I would love to do lip swatches for you but my skin is quite bad at the moment, so hopefully I will add some later. I don't know what it is about them I don't like, but I find they apply on the lips weirdly and don't seem as pigmented as they look in the tube. However, the thing I dislike the most is the scent. Both the lipstick and the gloss are really strongly scented with a sickly sweet, artificial smell. So much so I have not worn either of these for longer than 5 minutes. If you happen to like the smell of them you may really enjoy them, but the smell is definitely not for everyone!

Review: Collection 2000 Lock n Hold Glosses

The other day I was in Asda and spotted these glosses. They caught my attention because they have no shimmer or glitter in them. I like that for lips. So I picked up Body Pop (1), a bubblegum pink, and Rock Steady (3), a nude colour. They were on offer for £2 but I don't remember what the usual retail price was. They are brand new though, so I'm sure there will be lots of promotions on them. When I got home I wanted to find out more about them and check out the other shades since I hadn't spent long looking at them. I found out they aren't due to be released until the 14th or something, so I was quite pleased to have got them a week early!

These glosses advertise themselves as being long-lasting, with the tube stating you can get "up to 6 hours wear". I've been wearing them at work during the week, and I can say they are just average in terms of how long they stay on the lips. I get about 2-3 hours wear maybe. They also tend to matte down as they wear, leaving just the colour on my lips. I have other lipglosses that last a lot better, but I tend not to expect lipgloss to stay on that long. I don't mind reapplying. The colour itself it pretty sheer, but I think they are nice. Rock Steady particularly is good for paling down your lips without giving you that 'concealer lips' look, which works well with a darker or smoky eye. 

Overall: I like the glosses, lovely colour selection and I love that they aren't shimmery at all. I would definitely repurchase, but don't buy them expecting them to last all day!
