Cover to Cover: Magazine Project

Hi everyone. Thought I'd post about a project I've been working on for absolutely ages. My tutor at college suggested this actually, as a way of practising my skills as a make-up artist. She said a good way to learn would be to go through a magazine, and try to recreate every single look in it yourself. While I haven't quite done all the looks in one magazine, I've done a lot. I went for mostly adverts, where you can see the make-up. It challenged me to try things I wouldn't normally, which I think is awesome.

Here's the looks:

I'm Officially a Makeup Artist!

Just a quick post because I don't think I've mentioned this before. As you may know, over the last year I've been studying towards getting a professional makeup artistry qualification. I've now finished my course, and, all being well with the exam board, I will be graduating with a distinction in level 2 Fashion and Photographic Makeup. So basically, I am now a qualified MUA!

If any of you are in the North of England/Yorkshire and need a makeup artist for any sort of occassion, photoshoot or other kinds of work, I am available to book now. You can contact me and view my work on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/LizaMooneyMua

Sorry for just plugging myself but just thought I should let you all know! Thanks for reading.

Quick EOTD

Hello everyone! I'm in the final stretch of my college course now so in the next week I will be finished! Just a quick EOTD today to ease myself back into blogging (and doing my own makeup!)

All I used was TFSS, Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Zero, MUA eyeshadow in shade 12, and Sugarpill Lumi.

Hope you like it! Better posts are on their way :)

MAC Club Eyeshadow and its 'Dupes'

MAC's Club eyeshadow is a very popular colour that a lot of other companies make 'dupes' of. A dupe a name the makeup community has given to anything which closely resembles or copies a particular product, usually something more expensive, hard to find or discontinued.

Club itself is a pressed, satin finish shadow, which MAC describes as a "red-brown with green pearl". In this post I've rounded up all the colours I have which are similar to this in my eyes. The eyeshadows that I am comparing are: MAC Club, MUA Shade 12, MAC Blue Brown Pigment and a shade from Famous by Sue Moxley which I got in the 'complete face kit'. I believe that the Sue Moxley colour is also available as a single eyeshadow, however I don't have it so can't compare or give you a shade name, sorry!

From the above picture you can see that Club seems to be the least bold, more of a grey-brown, with a very weak duochrome. In real life you can see the green more than in the photo, but it isn't strong like Blue Brown pigment.

Makeup Looks: Bright and Neutral

Just thought I'd post a couple of makeup looks since I haven't posted one for a while! I took these pictures for going out last night and Friday night while just about to leave the house, so they aren't the best.

The first one was inspired by a few pictures I'd seen using orange pink and gold, so naturally I used Sugarpill :)

For this look I used:

Urban Decay Primer Potion
Sugarpill Dollipop, Buttercupcake and Flamepoint on the lid.
Goldilux loose eyeshadow wet on the lower lashline.

This one was inspired by Robyn of Stay Beautiful; she did a look using Fyrinnae Damn Paladins with MUA 12 that I had to copy! I think the combo looks super sexy :)

I used:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Fyrinnae Damn Paladins
MUA shade 12
MAC Blue Brown pigment to intensify the outer corner.

Hope you like it!

Duochrome Evening Look

Today I did a look which I often do for nights out using MUA shade 12, an awesome duochrome eyeshadow. It's similar to MAC's Club eyeshadow or Blue Brown Pigment, and the best part is it's only £1 from Superdrug. It's a warm brown with a green duochrome. These types of colours look great over a green base, and today I used the NYX jumbo eye pencil in rocky mountain green to really show the green duochrome. I love duochromes for doing simple night time looks, since they look different on lid to how they look in the crease, you can just use one colour. However, I totally failed to get a decent close-up of it unfortunately, due to a lack of decent camera batteries. You can still see it in the full face pictures though.
