Fyrinnae Swatches Part 2: Pinks & Purples

So here's the second instalment of swatches of my Fyrinnae eyeshadows. Just to note, these are loose eyeshadows. They come in jars, either full size or 'mini' sample sizes. All of mine are the minis, which are actually very generous and contain more than I will ever use. Definitely a great way to try out a lot of shades anyway! All these are swatched over Pixie Epoxy.

Sunlight. Darling Misfit is probably more purple than it looks here. I'd call it a raspberry shade with a lot of blue/green shimmer. Very pretty, especially when used wet or over the Pixie Epoxy. Sennyo is one of my favourite colours every, goes really well with green/hazel eyes. The swatch is more accurate in the photo below.

Indoor lighting. Shows most of them more accurately I think. Rapunzel Had Extensions is a really pretty shade, light peachy pink with golden shimmer. I like using it as a cheek highlight.

Sunlight. Parental Advisory isn't as blue as this to me in real life.

Indoor lighting. Faerie Glamour is another duochrome colour with contrasting shimmer similar to Darling Misfit. Daemon's Tail is perhaps more red to my eye than it looks here, although it does go on quite coppery on the skin, a nice metallic texture too.

My picks: Parental Advisory, Sennyo and Rapunzel Had Extensions.

A Sunday Kind of Song

I love Etta James, hope you enjoy this as much as I do. Happy Sunday!

Eyes of the Day - Peach & Purple

Jazziebabycakes did a tutorial with these type of colours recently, so I decided to do something similar.

My eyebrows look so bad in closeup :s Maybe I should do something about it.. hmm not sure. Anyway, here are the products used:

Urban Decay Primer Potion
MAC Melon Pigment
Sugarpill Poison Plum
Sugarpill Dollipop
Sugarpill Tako

Also, if anyone has any ideas about the direction you think this blog should take, please share! I'm not sure whether to keep posting music videos or just stick to the makeup, and whether people would be interested in tips/tricks and stuff like that. Let me know!

Eyes of the Day - Smoky Greens

I've been experimenting with lighting and photography techniques so hopefully my photos will start improving.

Products Used

Urban Decay Primer Potion
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Dressed to Kill - lid
Dokkalfar - liner, used wet
Vetala - inner corner and crease

This looked darker in reality, and more sparkly. The Pixie Epoxy is great for dark and sparkly eyeshadows, as it gives them something to 'stick' to.

Saturday Night Brights

Here is the look I did for last night: I wanted something really bright so I did a look based on one of my favourites I've seen from a blogger. I used this one by A Brilliant Brunette as the basis, but used Sugarpill eyeshadows. The crease turned out darker than hers but I still like my version :)

Sorry about the quality of the closeups, I'm still struggling to find a decent lighting setup.

I used all Sugarpill shadows for this look, over Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Nyx Lip Palette Review

They had this palette in TK Maxx just before Christmas, but all the ones I saw were battered up and looked like they'd had grubby fingers shoved into them, so I passed. So I was pleased last weekend to see they'd got some more in, all sealed up nicely!

96 colours - 'every colour imaginable' it says, and this is pretty true. The palette contains lots of neutrals, reds, nudes, plums and pink to suit every skintone, as well as some more unusual shades, including black, blue, silver, gold, green and yellow.

Inside is a reasonably large mirror which would be really useful when travelling or doing makeup on someone else to show them.

The inside sections slide out to reveal all the colours, as well as 4 double ended lip brushes. I quite like the brushes, although it seems like they would go a bit soft with use.
Swatches of a few of the colours. They vary in terms of finish and pigmentation. As you can see the red is very pigmented, whereas the gold/metallic colours seem on the whole more sheer. Most of them are on the glossy side but they are definitely lipsticks rather than glosses.

A couple of them swatched on my lips; a red and a nude. They feel nice and creamy on the lips, not too drying although I can't tell you how they wear as I took them off after I took photos.

Overview: I definitely think this is a great buy for anyone wanting to experiment with a ton of different lip colours, or for makeup artists' kits. It's easily portable and the packaging looks nice. Probably the only downside I can think of is that the pans are quite small; if you really liked one of the colours I could see them running out quite quickly. I'm not sure if these are unique to the palette or Nyx sells them separately. They are not labelled with shade names.
I bought this for £9.99 but it said RRP £29.99. Not sure where else these would be available in the UK.

Duochrome Evening Look

Today I did a look which I often do for nights out using MUA shade 12, an awesome duochrome eyeshadow. It's similar to MAC's Club eyeshadow or Blue Brown Pigment, and the best part is it's only £1 from Superdrug. It's a warm brown with a green duochrome. These types of colours look great over a green base, and today I used the NYX jumbo eye pencil in rocky mountain green to really show the green duochrome. I love duochromes for doing simple night time looks, since they look different on lid to how they look in the crease, you can just use one colour. However, I totally failed to get a decent close-up of it unfortunately, due to a lack of decent camera batteries. You can still see it in the full face pictures though.

FOTD: Purples

I got bored yesterday so decided to do a bright eyeshadow look based around HiFi Cosmetics' Live Large, a gorgeous bright pink-based purple with a violet/blue duochrome. Photos make it look a lot less bright.

Fyrinnae Swatches Part 1: Neutrals

Let me start by saying I love Fyrinnae. They are a great company, especially for one run by only a couple of people. I've always had great customer service from them, they are really friendly and helpful, and shipping is cheap and reasonably fast for international orders. Everything comes securely packaged in pretty paper and they have always included free samples in my orders.

Hopefully I will eventually swatch all the colours I have from them, but I will start with the neutrals I have and what I think of them.

Taken in sunlight, no flash. All swatches over Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy.

Nijiro is much more sparkly than it looks here: a nice pearly cream/white with multicoloured sparkles. Not chunky glittery though; a nice highlight colour.

Platinum is also more sparkly than it looks here.

Damn Paladins is a taupey grey with a blue shimmer/duochrome. I love this one.

Taken with indoor lighting. Shows Selkie Skin's blue shimmer. Not as strong a duochrome as Damn Paladins though.

Natural light.

Artificial light.

Mirrors isn't brown like it looks here, but slate grey. You can see the colour shift in Feline Familiars well in these, as it's part of the Arcane Magic collection it looks different depending on the light.

My favourite picks: Damn Paladins, Nijiro, Newcastle, Equality. Everything available on http://www.fyrinnae.com/

Karaoke Makeup

Last weekend it was my friend's birthday so we went and did karaoke. It was really great fun, here's the look I wore for the night:

I used Sugarpill Buttercupcake, Dollipop and Poison Plum, Urban Decay Fishnet and Shattered. With Accessorize glitter liquid eyeliner in Purple Haze over black liner.

I have no idea why my eyebrow looks yellow here lol.

Yay, blogging!

So, I decided to start a blog about beauty. Hopefully it will be of interest to people! So, here's my first post, and a look using Sugarpill's Burning Heart Palette. Used over Urban Decay Primer Potion.
